If you want to know whether the no-poo exercise is good for your hair, but are not ready to go, start increasing the length between shampoos. This will help preserve the natural oils in your hair and cut down on your exposure to cleaning products and other chemicals. Better yet, if you shampoo your hair, look for a natural shampoo that’s more than just using soap. The pH of soap-based cleaners is very basic, about 8-9, causing damage you can cause hair by removing the cuticles and causing reactions that influence the disulfide bonds in your hair. Shampoo

Shampoo less. You really do not need to shampoo every day. Nope, not even if you work out. A good scalp massage and rinse in warm water goes a long way. Try to stretch the time between your shampoos as long as you can. Your hair is generally not dirty unless you do not regularly wash your hair to touch your hands. The more you shampoo, the more friction you get her, and the more damage you’ll see. With that said, teach yourself to be too soft. That means no scrubbing hair back and forth between your hands. Use gentle products with a soft touch and rinse well. All you should need to shampoo your scalp and use less shampoo you already have-a dime size amount or less, but go ahead and squish the suds down the rest of your hair if you feel it necessary has.

Winter weather can make the scalp flake and itch, especially if you live in a cold, dry climate. This usually goes away during the summer, unless it is very hot and humid. Hot and humid weather may make the scalp worsen more.

What helps: Try to keep the interior temperature “just right” – not too hot, not too cold. Wash your hair less in winter in order to to maintain the oils and moisture that protect your scalp.

Avoiding sulfates can save your skin and hair

Sulfates are a group of detergents or surfactants that are used in countless consumer products today. The most commonly used sulfates are sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES). These corrosive cleaning agents launched into as an industrial strength cleaning additive since they easily cut through heavily soiled surfaces.

How-To-Treat-Uneven-Skin-Tone

It was around the 1930’s when shampoo, soap, toothpaste and other foaming personal care products involving these synthetic detergents were launched to the market. They have remained in most commercial formulations ever since the public got accustomed to high-lather products.

Sulfates themselves are classified as a skin and membrane irritant and for this reason, also a possible carcinogen with repeated or prolonged exposure. They also can produce even more dangerious by-products by the other ingredients they are often blended with.

2ce915_a311004ce1a04b928e3b524c313ba1c8

While it is true that sulfates are the cheapest way to get a large amount of lather, it is totally redundant to actually clean bodily surfaces because It harms your hair and skin deeply. We have simply got used to piles of lather because that is what we’ve been exposed to. Larger amounts of lather simply equate to excessively stripping, drying and corroding the delicate surface of the hair and skin. Skipping these high-lather detergents will mean healthier looking, shinier, and more vibrant skin and hair.

7 causes for split ends

Have you been struggling with split ends in your hair but don’t know why? Perhaps you should know about these reasons:

Perming, Straightening or Curling

0401.jpg

Appliances which work to achieve perming, straightening or curling work mainly by heating your hair to give it the shape you desire. But they also end up sucking the natural moisture out of hair follicles, leaving your locks dry and brittle. This causes split ends.

Rebonding

1ads.jpg

Another process is called re-bonding in which, your hair is exposed to chemicals for over three hours. The chemical overload in this can also cause split ends.

Blow drying:   The hot air from the blow dryer sucks the natural moisture in your hair and causes split ends.

Highlights and hair colouring: Chemicals damage the natural chemical composition of your hair and colouring your hair very often and with poor quality colours can cause split ends.

pretty-highlights.jpg

Excessive or strong shampoos: Always use mild shampoos meant for your hair type. Don’t experiment with shampoos too often. And while washing your hair, use shampoo only on your scalp, not on your hair. Using the wrong type of shampoo or using too much can make your hair rough, brittle and cause split ends.

Brushing or combing: Comb your hair gently and never when wet. Vigorous drying and combing is the most common reason for split ends.

750x450xHome-Remedies-for-Treating-Split-Ends.jpg.pagespeed.ic.jPo2u-Oaf5

Genetics: For some, hair with split ends is just a genetic problem. Called Trichorrhexis nodosa, this condition causes a defect in the hair shaft. So the hair is thick at some points and thin at others. This uneven texture causes it to break easily.

Regardless of the classification system used, the best, listen to your hair when using products to determine which product is best for YOU.   Your hair will tell you exactly which product is appropriate.

AGANlife for all hairtypes

Andre Walker Hair Typing System

It is the most commonly used system to classify hair textures which is used by Oprah’s Hair Stylist, Andre Walker.  He has classified hair into four hair types.  It is always necessary to know your particular hair type before attempting to determine the best products to use for your hair. For Andre Walker, there are four main types of hair typing systems.

TYPE 1:  Straight – Although hair that reflects the most sheen, it is also the most resilient hair of all of the hair types. It is hard to damage and next to impossible to curl this hair texture. Because of the sebum (natural oil produced in the sebaceous glands of the scalp) gently working its way from the scalp to the ends without the interference of curls or kinks, it makes it, the most oily hair texture of all.

  • Type 1a Straight (Fine/Thin) – Hair tends to be very Soft, Shiny, difficult to hold a curl, hair also tends to be oily, and difficult to damage.
  • Type 1bStraight (Medium) – Hair has lots of volume & body.
  • Type 1c – Straight (Coarse) – Hair is normally bone straight and difficult to Curl.  Generally Asian women fall into this category.

TYPE 2: Wavy –It is the kind of hair which that lies somewhere between straight and curly hair. It also reflects sheen, more than curly hair, but less than straight hair. Wavy hair is typically more prone to frizz. As  type A waves can easily alternate between straight and curly styles, type B and C wavy hair is resistant to styling.

  • Type 2a Wavy (Fine/Thin) – Hair has a definite “S” pattern. This type hair in normal conditions can be seen various styles.
  • Type 2bWavy (Medium) – Hair tends to be frizzy, and a little resistant to styling.
  • Type 2cWavy (Coarse) – Hair is also resistant to styling and in normal conditions very frizzy; tends to have thicker waves.

TYPE 3: Curly – Pulling a strand of a type 3 curly, you will notice it has a definite S shape. The S may be a lower case s or upper case S, or it may even resemble a Z on some occasions…on the other hand, there is a definite curl pattern in place, with our without products. This hair type is full bodied, climate dependent, in addition damage prone. Lack of proper care renders dull curls

  • Type 3aCurly (Loose Curls) – Hair tends to have a combination texture. It can be thick & full with lots of body, with a definite “S” pattern. It also tends to be frizzy.
  • Type 3bCurly (Tight Curls) – Also tends to have a combination texture, with a medium amount of curl.

Type 4: Kinky – Although there are many misconceptions, this tightly coiled hair is quite fine also fragile. It is wiry, and delicate by the means of nature. Each strand usually has a zig zag pattern. Kinky hair which is the driest hair type, so that it is more prone to breakage and requires a gentle touch. There is a misconception which is that this hair type does not grow. Kinky hair grows at the same rate as other texture; however, if not treated properly it breaks more than other textures. Treat this hair type like a fine silk blouse which cleanse gently, detangle softly, and avoid harsh chemicals.

  • Type 4aKinky (Soft) – Hair tends to be very Fragile, tightly coiled, and has a more defined curly pattern.
  • Type 4bKinky (Wiry) – Also very fragile and tightly coiled; however with a less visible curl pattern

**Type 3c (tight curls or coils that looks like corkscrews) and Type 4c (“Z” pattern) were not included in the original Andre Walker System.
