1. Taking supplements that you do not need
There is a school of thought that if you take certain vitamin or mineral supplements, you can promote hair growth or to thicken hair. Some people even prescribe larger than normal doses of these supplements. In fact, taking supplements in excess or those you do not need may lead to hair loss. If you truly believe that you are lacking in essential minerals or vitamins, it is definitely worth to have some blood tests carried out before starting on a course of supplements.
2. Check thyroid
If your thyroid is underactive, you are likely to suffer from increased hair fall as the balance between the hair growing and hair shedding (telogen phase), is disrupted. In essence hair should still be in the growth phase somehow it switched to the shedding phase. It is scientifically not known why this happens. However, the observations are so far that hair follicles do not have attachment areas for thyroid hormones and for people to do with an underactive thyroid So if you suspect an underactive thyroid, you should have it checked out.
3. Check iron
Women who either low iron, but not anemia and those with anemia may experience hair loss. Similar to the underactive thyroid, this is because of hair that should be in the growth phase switching to the shedding phase . Iron supplementation allows restoring the balance. However, hair loss in women is not universal with low iron or anemia, some women do not experience this.
4. Check hormones
Women produce a small amount of testosterone in addition to large quantities to make estrogen. The balance between these two hormones can affect hair growth. Estrogens are known to play a role in hair growth and are part of the reason why the growth cycle of hair is extended in pregnancy. For women, testosterone in higher than normal amounts of hair on the head can result in thinner and shedding more and promote thicker hair growth typically male areas such as the chin and chest. If you have problems with your menstrual cycle, or if you notice that your hair shedding and thinning more and more, have a hormone control done.
In addition to your overall health, be careful about the surfactant that touch your hair such as your shampoo. You may harm your body with your shampoo choice. Choose a sulphate free shampoo such as arganrain and do not experience hair loss.
